CLARION HOTEL HELSINKI FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN
You must have spent many sleepless nights wondering how many travel bloggers can fit in a Clarion Hotel Helsinki shower at the same time? Or trying to figure out what Mannequin Challenge is? Not to worry – you will get the answers in the videos of this post, as well as find out what Clarion Hotel Helsinki has to offer to a family with kids.
Nordic Bloggers’ Experience
Hotel Clarion Helsinki offered the Nordic Travel Fair’s Nordic Bloggers’ Experience host bloggers – such as us – a chance to try the hotel and to sleep over after the NBE-party. The hotel visit wasn’t of a very traditional kind as we ended up experimenting (inspired by the lovely Terry from the LiveShareTravel –blog) to see how many travel bloggers could fit in a shower – all with the theme #ShowerwithTerry.
When in Helsinki you have to #ShowerWithTerry (even if it's a dry one to check how many people you can fit in a hotel shower)

NBE Mannequin Challenge
Mannequin Challenge is a viral internet video trend where people pause as if they were mannequin dolls, all while a video camera is circling around, filming them. Travel bloggers are of course cutting edge and riding the waves of hot trends, so check out our freeze – dance –video.
Although we had tons to talk about with the foreign and Finnish bloggers (without kids, that is), we were of course also wondering whether we could come here to spend time with the kids. After a tour of the hotel and an overnight experience we as a family with kids were especially fond of two things: the rooftop pool and the brunch.
THE PICKS OF A FAMILY WITH KIDS AT CLARION HOTEL HELSINKI
1. ROOFTOP SWIM WITH THE KIDS
Hotel Clarion’s Roof Top & Terrace pool is an interesting concept during the winter. The pool is located on the roof, on the 16th floor of the building, but who knew that you actually swim outdoors, literally? That’s a great experience, especially for kids.
We went up there to gawk at the amazingly beautiful views at sunrise, when the hot steam rising from the pool diseappeared in the freezing air. All the walls and the pool itself are glass, so both the outdoor terrace area as well as the bottom of the pool (yes!) offered great views of Helsinki. There is a gym, sauna facilities and an outdoor terrace in conjunction with the pool.
Roof Top Pool
- Pool and sauna open in the mornings: 6-11 (AM) and evenings 17-22 (5 to 10 PM)
- Gym open: 06-11 (AM to PM)
- Only for hotel guests
2. GOOD FOOD WITH THE KIDS
Do you know who Marcus Samuelsson is? He is a Swedish top chef of Ethiopian descent and has become famous for his top New York restaurants Red Rooster and Aquavit. Samuelsson has also won the Top Chef Master –competition and among other things cooked with Michelle Obama in the Good Morning America –morning show.
Samuelsson has planned the restaurant concepts for all of the Clarion hotel chain’s Nordic hotels. We didn’t have time to test the Manhattan –style dinner restaurant, but the breakfast buffet was more varied and of higher quality than usually at hotels. We can easily see ourselves coming here with our friends and their families for a Sunday brunch. The attached picture is from the dinner restaurant, since in our hungry state of being we forgot to take pictures of the breakfast. In the blog posts below you can still take a peek into what the breakfast table looks like.
Kitchen & Table
- Dinner restaurant open daily: 17-22 (5 to 10 PM)
- Brunch for guests not staying at the hotel: Sundays 8-11 (AM)
- Brunch for guests not staying at the hotel: adults 25€, children aged 4-14 12,5€, children under 4 years eat for free
